Relfexology therapist
Tell us about yourself.
I trained as Reflexologist in 2001 at the London Branch of the International Institute of Reflexology. I added to my skills by training as a massage therapist at the NZ College of Massage (NZCM) in 2005-06 and often combine massage and reflexology in a treatment session. This year I have completed further training in hand and ear reflexology. Prior to all this happening I was a dairy farmer, raising three now adult children whilst enjoying the rural lifestyle. Reflexology is my passion. I assist in teaching a 30 hour introductory course in reflexology at the NZCM and am currently enjoying being involved in community education in Hamilton, teaching a 12 hour introductory course. I plan to continue to be actively involved in promoting reflexology as a positive approach to a healthy lifestyle, and to continue to educate others about its benefits.
What's the most important thing people should know about your approach to your professional work?
I love my work as a Reflexologist. I am committed to providing clients with a professional, ethical approach in a safe and caring environment. I do my best to meet client needs when giving reflexology but am always aware of the need to care for myself.
Why are you involved in the "help me to heal" programme?
The opportunity to be part of something wonderful!
I have long dreamt of being able to provide a retreat for others to care for and nurture themselves. "Help me to Heal" gives me the opportunity to be part of Jane's vision through the provision of reflexology sessions.
What do you hope people will gain from your involvement in the programme?
I hope people will gain a sense of wonder at the body's own ability to heal given the right situation. Also a sense of the worth of reflexology in assisting the body to balance itself so that healing can take place.
Is there anything you expect of people in the programme?
I expect people to take part in the programme with an open mind and heart so that mind, body and spirit are able to undertake a healing process.
