Dr Tom Palfi

"Science of Wellness" General Practitioner and Personal Trainer

Tell us about yourself.
I had a health scare myself 30 years ago while still at medical school and learned the importance of exercise, eating and drinking ‘clean' and taking supplements. By using the latest scientific knowledge, it is possible to dramatically improve people's health in just minutes a day - I give people the knowledge and support to accomplish this.

What's the most important thing people should know about your approach to your professional work?
As far as possible, I promote concepts that have some scientific basis i.e. they have been adequately researched, written up and peer reviewed - hence the name of my business ‘Scientific Fitness Training.'

Why are you involved in the "help me to heal" programme?
I believe in the ‘Law of Reciprocity' - what you reap, you shall sow.

What do you hope people will gain from your involvement in the programme?
It has been clearly shown that people can actually improve their fitness while undergoing cancer therapy - my aim is to get people ‘as fit as possible, as fast as possible with as little effort as possible'.

Is there anything you expect of people in the programme?
Remember two things:
1. The mind is like a parachute - it works best when it's open.
2. Knowledge + Action = Results (I will endeavour to help you with both).

Please list your relevant qualifications and roles

What do you do for fun?
Fitness-related activities, reading and learning the piano (see my website for full details).

What's your funniest experience in your healing role ?
One of the more amusing consultations I had went along the lines of:
Dr Tom - Hi Jane, How can I help you today?
Jane - Well Doc, I seem to be getting ‘reverse periods'.
Dr Tom - ‘Reverse periods Jane? They never taught me about those at medical school. Exactly what happens?
Jane - well Doc, once a month, one of my ears starts to bleed!

What makes you laugh?

Boston Legal
Articles by Michael Laws and Raybon Kan
My daughter - during one of my particularly bad practice sessions on the piano (learning one of the Suzuki level one songs called ‘Cuckoo') Sarah commented ‘Gee Dad, you're having a really bad ‘Cuckoo' day aren't you!'
